If you happen to see any of our operations guys and gals around, please pat them on the back and say thank you for what they do. It is my pleasure and honor to be their director and serve Lytle ISD. This being said, all of my operations staff members from the mechanics, bus aides, and custodians are very important to me and do amazing things for our schools, staff, and students every day. However, I couldn’t sneak sixty-four staff members in the door. I would have liked to take and have had the entire operations department recognized. Please see the attachment for a picture of the honorees and see the information below regarding how important these members of our operations department are to me and our schools. Larry Sanders is the chief of the Lytle VFW and he asked me to select four members of the operations department to be recognized by the Lytle VFW, this was not an easy task as all operations staff members are deserving. Last night the operation department was recognized by the Lytle VFW and awarded the community service award for our service to the school and community. Crossing guards do much more than simply help students to cross. Ukiah Unified bus drivers have been busy, and the SAFE miles for 2021 will be much greater than 2020. The official day is on February 10, but celebrate on the day that works best for your community. In 2020, Ukiah Unified bus drivers safely transported more than 1,400 students between home and school every day, totaling 136,285 SAFE miles and 14,427,983 total SAFE miles from 2017-2020. ![]() The National Academy of Sciences, the United States Department of Transportation, and other authorities agree that school buses are the safest form of transportation for getting children to and from school. We wouldn’t have been able to distribute meals during the pandemic without them,” said Ukiah Unified Trustee president Zoey Fernandez. Not only do our drivers get kids to and from school safely, but they are also the first ones to volunteer and help out all over the district. Each child is someone’s baby, and it’s their huge responsibility to keep them safe. “Our bus drivers are simply the best! They’re so much more than drivers they are responsible for our most precious cargo.
